Firstlight Home Care in Libertyville has been wonderful in assisting my mother and family through very difficult times. Stephanie, Kris and Caleb, the management at Firstlight, have been so incredible, kind and helpful even gave care themselves from time to time. The care workers were all compassionate, kind and competent especially Princess and Noreen. It can take a few care workers to find the right fit for your loved one but Firstlight is patient and persistent in helping you find the right one. I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Stephanie Johnson, Owner and caregiver for FirstLight HomeCare. I met Stephanie in January of 2016, when her company was recommended to provide caregiving services for my mother, Kathleen Hanson (now 78 years old), who was transitioning into moderate Dementia symptoms. I have been utilizing the services of FirstLight caregiving services to this day. Initially, FirstLight caregivers would be with my mom 7-8 hours a day. Since December of 2018, that care has transitioned to 24-hour, sleep-in care for my mom. Unfortunately, Mom’s condition has progressed to severe Dementia over the last 3+ years. From the first day our family met with Stephanie to discuss care options, there was immediate trust and comfort. To date, Stephanie has never betrayed that trust. She is a woman of high integrity. In the time FirstLight has cared for my mom, Stephanie has taken lead to ensure that her caregivers were the right fit and personality, and that they were trained adequately to care properly for mom. If there was ever a personality “mismatch” along the way, Stephanie and her team acted swiftly to adjust the care team dynamic. Stephanie and her team have ensured my mom’s meds are taken each day, her doctor appointments are scheduled and met, that her hygiene is attended to, and that her caregivers are tidy while also ensuring mom’s apartment is kept clean. In an emergency, I can call Stephanie any day of the week or hour of the day; She has traveled and stayed with my mom to the ER following falls on multiple occasions, as I was unable to be there in a timely matter. I am forever grateful for her kindness and caring spirit. I would highly recommend Stephanie and FirstLight to anyone who is in need of a reliable and caring service company.
